They were in a 1940's Big Band nightclub.
The Doctor, Amy, and Rory pulled out chairs and claimed a table below the stage, beside the huge dance floor.
The adventure was over, they'd foiled the alien's attempt to introduce a violence-inducing hormone into the alcohol supply, and sent the aliens off, literally, with their tails between their legs.
They'd decided they deserved a night out. Amy and Rory had dressed for the Forties, Amy in a military cut dress, curled bangs, and bright red lipstick, Rory in a WWII Army officer's uniform that he said he'd earned.
The Doctor had opted to wear his tux. They all sat down, Rory gave their drinks order to a waitress, and they turned their attention to the band that was warming up on the high stage.
The air was redolent of cigarette smoke and perfume, the crowd loud and cheerful with discussi

The Doctor crawled stealthily behind the bushes, his floppy hair falling in his face, his bum stuck in the air. The aliens hadn’t noticed him yet, and if he could just get to the other side of their campsite, he could retrieve his sonic screwdriver and his wife.
His wife, unfortunately, was unconscious. She’d had his screwdriver, she’d danced backwards out of the Tardis, teasing him with it, when she’d been jumped and thumped on the head. He’d slammed the door and immediately moved the Tardis, including a few minutes back in time, so he could see what happened.
The Tardis was hidden in a stand of trees not far away, for once, the chameleon circuit was working, making the Tardis look like a tree to blend in with all the others. She always did love River best.
The locals had apparently been unable to decide whether River was a goddess or a demon. (Somet

"Clara!" the Doctor's yell reverberated down the Tardis corridors.
"Clara, Clara, Clara!" the Doctor poked his head around the corner, looking both ways. "Oh, there you are!" He sidled around the corner, a tall gangly man in a hoodie and a black frock coat, looking a bit like a preying mantis or grasshopper.
Clara shambled down the corridor, her hair askew. "What do you want?" she demanded petulantly.
"Where have you been?" he asked, prancing up and taking her biceps. He started dragging her toward the console room.
He looked her up and down, trying to figure out what was wrong with this picture.
"I was asleep. I'm human, we require a certain amount of sleep every 24 hours."
"That explains the nightgown," he sniped, eyebrow raised. He looked down at her cotton night gown with the tiny purple flowers. He shrugged and continued dr

The Doctor sat in the Tardis corridor, leaning back against the wall, his fierce eyebrows glaring at the opposite roundeled wall.
“Look, I know you’re irritated at me, but is this any way to behave?” His hands hung between his knees, and the corners of his mouth turned down.
The Tardis hummed across his back and buttocks, the floor hard underneath him. He turned and glared at each end of the corridor. Both of them stretched out forever into the distance, no door in sight.
“If you think this is going to make me change my mind, you are sadly mistaken.”
The lights dimmed and brightened, the quality of the hum changed to a buzzing that snapped at the base of his skull.
“No, I am not wrong, and I am not going to apologize. You had it coming.”
The lights went completely off, leaving him in Stygian darkness. The air around him wafted out scents
